About MICGBV
Malawi Irish Consortium on Gender Based Violence — a coalition united in advancing gender equality and ending GBV across Malawi.
Founded on Shared Commitment
Founded in 2014, and working in close collaboration with and with support from the Embassy of Ireland in Malawi, the Malawi Irish Consortium on Gender-Based Violence (MICGBV) brings together humanitarian, development, human rights, legal, advocacy, and gender-focused organisations committed to advancing gender equality and strengthening GBV prevention and response in Malawi.
The consortium currently comprises six member organisations: ActionAid Malawi, Concern Worldwide, Irish Rule of Law International, Oxfam in Malawi, SelfHelp Africa–United Purpose, and Trócaire.
The MICGBV promotes evidence-based programming on gender equality and gender-based violence and supports the work of the Government of Malawi, particularly the Ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare, along with other key stakeholders engaged in GBV prevention and response.

Our Vision
A Malawi that is safe, inclusive, and free from gender-based violence, where all individuals enjoy equal rights and human dignity.
Our Mission
We advocate, promote evidence-based learning, and strengthen collaboration among stakeholders to prevent and respond to GBV in Malawi.
Theory of Change
If the MICGBV advocates collectively, amplifies evidence-based learning, and strengthens collaboration among power holders and GBV practitioners, then policies, services, and budgets will better respond to the GBV-related needs of adolescents and GBV survivors.
What We Do
Our multi-sectoral strategy rests on three primary pillars designed to deliver sustainable impact across Malawi.
Advocacy
Advocate at national level for improved access to quality GBV services for all, especially for adolescents and young people.
Collaboration
Strengthening collaboration between GBV practitioners to improve monitoring, sharing and learning; leading to more effective GBV-focused implementation.
Evidence
Improving the availability of GBV-related information across the sector; leading to an increased use of evidence in practice.
